During a recent stay in Ambleside, the Lake District, I had been chatting to another guest while enjoying a 12 year old single malt in the hotel bar and I was asked if I had taken the short walk up the river behind the hotel to the waterfalls.
Of course, naturally my curiosity had a few more questions to secure enough information to enable me to find this place.
The following morning I woke early to take this short walk before breakfast.
The light was reasonable at almost 7am so I grabbed my camera with the intention of trying out some new settings and began my trek up the quiet lane behind the Salutation hotel to gated area off the road to the start of the river walk up to the falls passing a wishing tree on the way.

i crossed the river by the wooden bridge and began the uphill climb following the tributary off the river Rothay to find several small falls on the way up.
The old bridge I passed which leads over the upper route to the top which I would cross on the way back down, provides an interesting alternative route either way.
Just starting to get a feel for the different camera settings at this stage and adjusting to the changing light conditions as the early morning began to brighten.
Three into one does go.... Apparently.
The reward at the end of the walk.
After messing around with a few settings on my camera, and a bit of trial and error, I managed to capture this half decent shot of the waterfall.
